I have worked in design consultancy, advertising, and photography, but the majority of my work has been in book design. I was a senior designer at Thames and Hudson publishers for 15 years and then became head of Jacket Design. For the last 3 years I have been freelance as studio medlikova and I have been designing and art directing covers and books for various clients. I have designed childrens’ books, cookery books, and a variety of lavishly illustrated art, fashion, photography, and interiors books. I am working on branding, corporate identity and marketing material.
I am a prolific ideas person, and my strengths include originality and innovative problem solving.
I have an MA in Fine Art and my spare time is spent in many creative ways, including painting, printmaking, photography, and sewing, all of which are used in my design work. Since becoming a freelance designer, my artistic practice has flourished. I am exploring notions of home and place, together with the environment. This encompasses print/textiles and installation.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss any creative projects which need design solutions or art direction.
